RPG GPT, built by GPTInfinite, is exactly the RPG experience its name promises: pick a setting, create a character, and play a freeform text adventure with a GM that narrates scenes and reacts to your choices. There’s nothing here that reinvents the format — no novel mechanic, no world designed ahead of time, nothing another GPT couldn’t replicate with a similar prompt. GPTInfinite’s own site has since gone dark, though the GPT itself is still live and still getting played.
What it does better than most of its peers is discipline. It doesn’t leak the seams the way a lot of Custom GPTs do — no citing its own instructions, no referencing “the prompt” or breaking immersion to explain itself, none of the fourth-wall slips that plague weaker builds in this category. That’s a smaller thing to get right than a novel system, but a lot of GPTs in this exact genre don’t manage it.
