Worldtable

An AI game master with a real engine under it: the storyteller writes the scene, ordinary game code rolls the dice, prices the action and keeps the map. The most ambitious platform we have reviewed. Its item bookkeeping still leaks.

Best for: Players who want a long campaign in a world with real rules under it: travel, fights, money and dice settled by code. Not for anyone who needs loot and trade they can fully trust yet. It is in early access. Last reviewed: November 2026 Corrections

Worldtable is an AI game master that runs in a browser. It was formerly called ChronicleRPG. You type what your character does. An AI storyteller writes the scene and plays everyone in it. Underneath, the parts that decide outcomes are ordinary code with a database behind it.

Its own documentation draws the line plainly. The storyteller judges what you meant and writes every character. The engine rolls the dice, does the arithmetic, prices what an action costs you, keeps the map and the road times, and records what you own. A sword blow lands or it does not before a word of narration is written. Worldtable hosts many worlds. Its own worlds, such as the archipelago of Khorvale and the lands we played in, are open to every account. Other worlds are built by players in its World Studio, which we did not use. It plays in fantasy, the present day and science fiction, in eight languages, and you must be 18 or older.

What It Scores

Worldtable scores 4.5 out of 5, first of the thirty-one platforms on our benchmark, ahead of Voyage and Craft. We gave it our Extended test. We played worlds Worldtable made; we did not build a world, so no score here measures the builder.

Signature Design — 5. More features than any platform we have reviewed, and nothing quite like it. By its own documentation that includes a storyteller and an engine with separate jobs, a generated map you cross kilometre by kilometre, fights on a battle map, rule systems you can bring or write, and a story book kept for you.

Mechanical Depth — 5. So many mechanics that it does not need every one of them to be perfect to earn a 5. The limits we saw came from the creativity of whoever built the world or from what the models can do, not from missing systems.

Player Agency — 5. No puppeting and no railroading. It surprised us.

NPC Fidelity — 4.5. Characters are distinct in goals, wants, fears and personality. What would make them perfect is more distinct ways of talking.

Longevity — 4.5. Most of what makes a game worth playing for months is here, and it passes our longevity tests as Voyage does, with less confusion about geography. It stops short of a 5 because an imperfect axis can still exert a toll on the players who most value it.

Memory & Continuity — 4. Small gaps in detail you would not notice unless you were testing for them. The real problem is the opposite: characters know too much. Something happens, you move on, and people in the next scene already know and act smug about it.

Determinism & Fairness — 3.5. Our weakest axis for it. An item sold for good money came back with the quest. And the game’s loot button and loot written in the story can both pay out for one find.

Pricing

One credit is one turn. Prices are from Worldtable’s credits page on 3 November 2026.

PlanPriceWhat you get
New accountFree50 credits, once
Credit packs$5, $10 or $20200, 450 or 1,000 credits. Bought credits never expire
Adventurer$12 a month650 credits a month; unused ones carry over for a month, up to 1,300

A turn is 1 credit, voice on a turn is 1 more, and a picture is 1. A turn the world never answers is refunded. A world that runs on its builder’s own AI key, or on a player’s own Claude Code or Codex, does not use credits. Worldtable describes itself as in early access in its terms.

Verdict

Worldtable is the most complete AI game master we have tested, and the first to earn a Longevity above 4 from us. Its characters keep their own record of you, and it left us a better campaign than any platform before it. The cost is in the seams: the story can still move an item that the engine should own, and characters know things they should not. At 4.5 it is first on our board for now.
