Voyage

Latitude's structured successor to AI Dungeon — real dice, real consequences, real permadeath.

Best for: Structured, consequence-heavy RPG on mobile with earned outcomes and co-op permadeath.

Recognizing the limitations of pure text generation, Latitude introduced Voyage in 2026 as a direct evolution of their AI Dungeon technology. Where AI Dungeon gives players total narrative fiat, Voyage integrates structured gameplay mechanics into the same LLM interface — aiming to capture the audience that wanted a real tabletop experience, not just an improv partner.

How It Works

Voyage is powered by a proprietary “World Engine” designed to impose real consequences. Rather than allowing players to dictate every outcome through narrative fiat, Voyage integrates skill checks, hit points, spatial positioning, and permanent character death directly into the narrative flow. It operates as a highly structured AI RPG, utilizing AI Game Master personalities that range from cozy and forgiving to hardcore and punishing, actively shaping the tone of each adventure.

The platform is built primarily for mobile (iOS and Android), with the design philosophy optimized around short-burst sessions and pick-up-and-play accessibility.

Advantages Over Competitors

Voyage successfully bridges the gap between the total narrative freedom of its predecessor and the rigid constraints of a traditional Virtual Tabletop. Its primary advantage is the implementation of “earned outcomes” — players must strategize and roll for success, dramatically increasing the narrative stakes in a way AI Dungeon never could.

Voyage also supports synchronous co-op multiplayer for up to four players, allowing groups to face consequences collectively and share the weight of permadeath. Compared to AI Realm, Voyage offers a substantially more polished mobile experience and deeper environmental interactions, alongside a referral system that grants subscription credits for bringing in new players.

What It Does Best (and Worst)

Voyage is best at providing a structured, consequence-heavy RPG experience on mobile devices. It is highly suitable for established AI Dungeon players who want more challenge and the genuine thrill of permadeath — the feeling that your choices actually matter.

Conversely, it is worse for players who prefer bypassing mechanics in favor of pure power fantasy. The dice mechanics routinely force failure states, and there is no way to simply talk your way out of a bad roll. The system enforces discipline.

Limitations

The current limitations stem primarily from Voyage’s closed beta status. Access is highly restricted via an invite code system, forcing potential users onto waitlists. Because it is heavily optimized for mobile, desktop-centric users may find the interface restrictive. The platform also faces criticism from veteran users who argue it is simply packaging mechanics that other indie AI RPGs have offered for years.

Pricing

PlanAnticipated Monthly CostLimits & Features
Beta AccessFree (Invite Only)Starter usage pool, free daily usage claims
Standard$15.00Advanced AI features, increased action limits
Premium$30.00Uncapped player actions, enhanced world creation
Ultimate$50.00Maximum AI access, priority multiplayer hosting

Hosting games consumes usage limits, but guests can join and play via multiplayer links without expending their own quota — a smart design choice for group play.

Verdict

Voyage represents a massive structural leap forward for Latitude, offering desperately needed mechanical structure and real consequences in an AI RPG context. The beta restrictions and upcoming pricing tiers temper its immediate accessibility, but as a vision of where structured AI gaming is going, it is one of the most promising platforms in the space. Watch this one closely.
