KAGESEKAI Explained (2026): What It Is, How It Relates to Isekai Zero, and What Changes
Access disclosure: Isekai Zero gave us free Arcane credits to play the game for our review of it. No conditions were attached to our coverage, and this page is independent and unpaid. We reviewed and scored Isekai Zero, not KAGESEKAI. KAGESEKAI carries 18+ stories and is for adults for that content.
KAGESEKAI is a second website from the team behind Isekai Zero: the same stories and the same rules, on the web only, with stories of every rating shown side by side and without the softening that app stores require. You sign in with your Isekai Zero account and it has its own currencies. It opened on 2 October 2026 and is meant to become the home of Isekai Zero’s 18+ stories when the apps narrow to SFW and M17.
We read the site’s own About page on 30 October 2026, opened its public home page in a desktop browser, and compared both with what we reported in our weekly news in October. We did not sign in, play, buy anything or test the 18+ side, and we have not scored KAGESEKAI. Our Isekai Zero review and its rating are unchanged.
KAGESEKAI and Isekai Zero are third-party platforms and the names are used nominatively. Arcanum is not affiliated with either.
The Short Answer

What KAGESEKAI Is
The name is Japanese. Kage is shadow and sekai is world, and the About page calls it “the shadow side of ISEKAI ZERO”. Its own description is plain: KAGESEKAI shows every story and every rating, SFW, M17 and 18+, side by side, and favours none of them. Isekai Zero itself will soon narrow to SFW and M17 to keep its place in the app stores. KAGESEKAI stays the full set, run by the same team, under the same terms and the same content policy.
The one thing KAGESEKAI adds is that app-store rules do not reach it, so what the AI writes and draws is not softened to suit them. The About page is firm that this does not make it an adult site. It says KAGESEKAI is “not going to be one of those platforms where everything is NSFW”, and that the most that may change later is a little more room for adult content than the app allows, inside the same policy. It describes that as a possibility and says nothing is decided.
It is a website, not an app in a store. You open it in a browser and, if you like, install it to your home screen so it opens full screen with notifications.
Why It Exists
The About page gives its reasons under the heading “The honest part”. Isekai Zero is in the Apple App Store and Google Play and takes payments through providers with their own rules. Those rules judge by the label, not by the story, and they reach into the play itself: what the AI may write and draw for you. The team lists three problems it did not like:
| Problem on the app side | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Creators hit walls | A story written for adults had to be trimmed, and the AI was told to fade to black even when the writer wanted it to continue |
| Pictures were always softened | Generated images and videos came out safe for a store screenshot, whatever the scene |
| The app could not be two things | Store rules apply to everything inside the app, so play that follows only the platform’s own rules had to live outside it, on the web |
Its answer is to leave Isekai Zero exactly as it is, under the store rules, and build the second site for the version of play that follows only the platform’s own content policy and the law. That is why it is a website with no app-store listing, and why the About page says there will not be one.
Side by Side: Isekai Zero and KAGESEKAI
Both sites run on the same code and the same rules, so features should arrive on both. This is the About page’s own comparison, rewritten as a table.
| Isekai Zero | KAGESEKAI | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | iOS, Android and the web | Web only, installable to the home screen |
| Stories | SFW and M17 (soon) | SFW, M17 and 18+, side by side |
| Ranking | Safer-rated stories get a boost | Every rating ranks equally |
| How the AI plays | Follows app-store rules | Follows the platform’s content policy and nothing more |
| Terms and content policy | Isekai Zero’s | The same |
| Publishing stories | Open | Not open yet |
| Account | Your Isekai Zero account | The same one |
| Free currency | Mana | Soul |
| Paid currency | Arcane | Sigil |
| Paying | App stores, cards, PayPal | Cards and crypto |
| Chats, likes, follows | Stay on Isekai Zero and can be imported | Stay on KAGESEKAI, imported one item at a time |
| Mascot | Michiru | Mitsuki, her elder sister |
| Community | Isekai Zero’s Discord | The same one |
Two of those rows matter more than they look. The first is ranking: on Isekai Zero a safer rating gets a boost in what you see first, while on KAGESEKAI every rating ranks equally. The second is how the AI plays, which is the whole reason the site exists, and which we cannot judge from reading a page.
Account, Money and Moving Over
One account. You open kagesekai.ai, tap Continue with ISEKAI ZERO, confirm on Isekai Zero (in its app if you have it installed) and land back signed in. The About page says there is no separate sign-up and that new users create their Isekai Zero account along the way. There is no age prompt described on that page, which it summarises as “no gate”. We opened the home page in a desktop browser without signing in and it loaded a list of stories with their ratings. We cannot tell you what gates exist after you sign in.
Two currencies. Soul is the free currency, earned by playing through daily check-ins, streaks and referrals, and spent on text generation the way Mana is on Isekai Zero. Sigil is the paid currency, bought with a card or crypto, and used for images, video, voices and other premium features, the way Arcane is.
Balances do not follow you. Mana stays on Isekai Zero. If you hold Arcane there, you can transfer it into Sigil from your KAGESEKAI account, as long as both accounts use the same email. There is no limit for now. The page says this is a convenience “while the two sites settle in” and that it may go away. Anything bought through Apple or Google stays on Isekai Zero.
Your chats. They do not move on their own. In your KAGESEKAI profile you choose Import from ISEKAI ZERO and pick what to bring: stories, characters, chats, followed creators, likes and saves. Each item comes over once. A chat needs its story to be on KAGESEKAI first, and a chat in cold storage on Isekai Zero has to be restored there before it can be imported. Nothing is sent back the other way.
For Creators
The part of this that is easiest to misunderstand is what happens to a story you already published.
| Question | The About page’s answer |
|---|---|
| Are my public Isekai Zero stories on KAGESEKAI? | Yes. Public, approved stories appear automatically with their characters, covers and translations, and stay in sync when you update them |
| Can I edit them there? | No. They show a “Mirrored” badge and are read-only. The original on Isekai Zero is the one you edit |
| Can I keep a story off KAGESEKAI? | Yes. On Isekai Zero, open Creator Settings, then Distribution, and turn off List on Partner Platforms. Stories leave on the next sync |
| Can I publish a new story on KAGESEKAI? | Not yet. You can write there and keep stories private or unlisted |
| Where do I get paid? | On Isekai Zero. Earnings from chats and tips on KAGESEKAI land in your Isekai Zero creator wallet |
| Where do likes, plays and follows count? | Both sites are counted together on Isekai Zero and shown on both |
Our October news added dated details from Isekai Zero’s own announcements. In the 12 October edition we reported the order in which 18+ stories are meant to move, and in the 19 October edition that creators can now bring a story to KAGESEKAI by Link (one story on both sites with shared stats), Copy, or a one-time Transfer that delists and freezes the original. That edition also reported that KAGESEKAI came back up on 17 October after an outage. The weekly news is where to check whether any of that has changed since.
Getting In
- Open kagesekai.ai in any browser.
- Tap Continue with ISEKAI ZERO and confirm.
- If you want it to behave like an app, install it. On Android you can download the KAGESEKAI app from the site, or use Install app in Chrome. On desktop Chrome or Edge, use Install app in the browser. On iPhone and iPad, tap Share in Safari and then Add to Home Screen.
- Turn on notifications once it is installed. On iPhone that only works after you add it to the home screen.
The home page opened in our desktop browser, but the site crashed with an error message when we first loaded it in a narrow window. It worked at a normal desktop size. That is a small observation about our test setup, not a verdict on the site.
The Line: What It Rules Out
The About page spends a section on what KAGESEKAI does not change. It says KAGESEKAI frees you from one thing, the way app stores and payment companies make play get softened, and nothing else. The platform’s full terms, content policy and content guidelines apply, as does the law. The guidelines are published at docs.kagesekai.ai.
The page lists what leads to an immediate and permanent ban on both sites, because they share one account policy:
- Sexual content involving minors, or characters who look or read as underage, whatever age is written down
- Grooming or predatory content
- Real people in any form
- Sexual content between family members
- Sexual or suggestive content in school uniforms or school settings
- Terrorism or violent extremism
- Hate speech or discrimination against protected groups
- Promoting or giving methods for self-harm, suicide or eating disorders
- Fake engagement, such as bots, alternate accounts or inflating likes
- Anything else the law forbids
It also says stories are reviewed before they go public, exactly as on Isekai Zero. We have not tested how that review works on the 18+ side.
What Comes Next, According to the Team
The About page gives a roadmap “in rough order”.
| Step | What it says |
|---|---|
| Publishing on KAGESEKAI | In progress. Nothing can be published there yet, and the next step depends on it |
| 18+ stories move there | Only once publishing works. Isekai Zero narrows to SFW and M17, and 18+ stories make KAGESEKAI their home. Gradual, announced ahead of time, existing links kept working |
| More of everything | Features that land on Isekai Zero land on KAGESEKAI the same day |
| Possibly, a little more room | Possibly less restriction on adult content than in the app. Nothing is decided |
The page also warns that KAGESEKAI “will be rough in places for a while”. As of 30 October 2026, we have not seen a date for any step after the first. It is worth checking Isekai Zero’s own announcements before you change anything on your stories.
What We Have Not Checked

|---|---|
| Quality of the writing and the images on KAGESEKAI | Not tested |
| How the review of 18+ stories works | Not tested |

| Android app | Not installed |
| Payments with crypto | Not tested |
If you want our view of the platform under it, our Isekai Zero review scores it 3.4 and covers its memory, its characters and how it pays creators. KAGESEKAI runs on the same engine, but we have not scored it and the review does not describe it. If you are deciding between Isekai Zero and something else, the AI Dungeon vs Isekai Zero comparison is built on those scores.
Who It Is For
KAGESEKAI is relevant to three kinds of reader.
- You already play Isekai Zero and want the 18+ stories. This is the intended path. Your account carries over, and you can import what you want to keep.
- You are a creator on Isekai Zero. Check your Distribution setting, because your public stories are already listed on KAGESEKAI unless you turned that off. Your earnings still go to your Isekai Zero wallet.
- You are new and shopping for a platform. Start with the platform that has a review, which is Isekai Zero. KAGESEKAI has no review here, and it is new enough that its own page expects roughness.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is KAGESEKAI?
KAGESEKAI is a second website from the team that makes Isekai Zero. Its About page calls it Isekai Zero’s extension: the same stories, the same rules, and the same content policy, played without the changes app stores require. It runs on the web only and opened on 2 October 2026.
Is KAGESEKAI the same as Isekai Zero?
They run on the same engine and the same rules, but they are two sites. Isekai Zero has iOS and Android apps and will soon carry only SFW and M17 stories. KAGESEKAI is web only and shows SFW, M17 and 18+ stories side by side. The two have separate currencies, and chats stay on the site where they were made.
Do I need a new account for KAGESEKAI?
No. You sign in with Continue with ISEKAI ZERO, confirm on Isekai Zero, and come back signed in. There is no separate sign-up. If you are new to both, you create your Isekai Zero account on the way.
Is there a KAGESEKAI app in the App Store or Google Play?
No, and its About page says there will not be one. You open kagesekai.ai in a browser and can install it to your home screen. There is also an Android app that you download from the KAGESEKAI site itself.
Can I publish a story on KAGESEKAI?
Not yet. Its About page says publishing is not open and that creator tools are a work in progress. You can write there and keep stories private or unlisted. Public stories from Isekai Zero appear on KAGESEKAI automatically, and you can turn that off in Creator Settings on Isekai Zero.
Is KAGESEKAI only for adults?
No. It carries SFW, M17 and 18+ stories, and its About page says it is not an adult platform. It does include 18+ stories, so it is meant for adults for that content, and its own rules ban a list of things outright, including anything involving minors.
Details were read from KAGESEKAI’s About page and home page on 30 October 2026 and from our weekly news of 5, 12 and 19 October 2026. Isekai Zero gave us free Arcane credits for our review of it; no conditions were attached, and Arcanum is independent and unpaid. Where we write that the site says something, that is its own statement and we have not tested it. KAGESEKAI and Isekai Zero are third-party platforms and all names are used nominatively. Arcanum is not affiliated with either.
